How To Stop Mould From Returning With This Homemade Spray

Feb 20, 2024

And you can make it with just three inexpensive and natural ingredients

There’s nothing more frustrating than when mould continues to return even after you’ve cleaned it away time and time again. So when we saw a cleaning guru take to TikTok to share her homemade spray to keep mould at bay, we were immediately intrigued.

Chantel Mila, who is known as Mama Mila on the video sharing app, has created her own ‘miracle’ mould killer solution, which contains just three ingredients, some of which you may already have in your home. It also works to kill mould spores completely and therefore stop the mould from coming back.

First you take a cup of vinegar, with the acidity within it working to break down mould spores. Then Chantel adds 20 drops of clove oil, with these acting as an anti-fungal part of the solution. Finally 20 drops of tea tree oil are combined to prevent the mould from returning.

And if you can’t find clove oil easily, Chantel recommends using peppermint oil instead, as it has similar anti-fungal properties.

Then all you need to do is spray the mixture onto the mould-prone surface, whether that be in your bathroom or around your skirting boards in a room that isn’t easily ventilated and as Chantel advises, “leave for 20 minutes while the spray does the hard work.” Then you simply rinse it off, without having to scrub like you might normally do.
